Feral Lawless, 2021 - Claude Creighton (they/them)
Acrylic, paint marker on canvas, 59 x 84 cm
Feral Lawless explores folklore while utilising the nature of quick drying, chunky acrylic mediums. Using these layers, I create an illusion of pushing and pulling, exploring the physicality of the breakdown, the bleed, the rotting and decay in synchronicity with more illustrative depictions of old story reflected through a contemporary gaze.
Claude Creighton is a multidisciplinary artist from Adelaide, Australia. Creighton playfully engages with drawing and installation to investigate the porous relationship between storytelling and cultural exploration of fear. Creighton’s work refers to traditions rooted in folk art, fairytale and mythos and they remain inspired by artists of the middle ages onwards.
