Soft and silky certified organic cotton! And we’re super proud of it.
Our product manufacturer runs their factory off of hydroelectricity and uses ethically sourced certified organic cotton to make their pads and tampons. Our boxes are made of fully recycled and recyclable cardboard and once you’ve used the pads and tampons, they will biodegrade in landfill!
You sure can! Periods can change, so can your address, contraception methods and period needs or preferences. Log in to your account and you can change your subscription and personal details. Email us at customerservice@tabooau.co if you have any issues!
Periods shouldn’t be a taboo but they are. When people say our brand name TABOO, we hope it prompts some self reflection as to why they are so stigmatised. Our logo is a spot, inspired by the body's habit to “spot” throughout the cycle. The bright pink contrasted with a close shade of red is considered to be a graphic design taboo too, which we think is quite appropriate!
TABOO was founded by Isobel Marshall and Eloise Hall in 2017 after they just finished high school. Come 2019, the team started growing to have 10 core team members by 2021. Eloise now leads the fort with a double degree in Business and International Relations. Isobel focuses on TABOO’s health and education projects in line with her degree in Medicine.
As a social enterprise, we have committed 100% of our net-profits to our charity partner One Girl. One Girl runs programs in Sierra Leone and Uganda aimed at keeping girls in school and women employed. A big part of this mission is to ensure that these communities have access to the right products and education to deal with their period in a hygienic and culturally appropriate way. Even though 100% of our net profits are dedicated to projects overseas, TABOO recognises that period poverty exists in Australia too. We have a community of generous customers who have subscribed to our period products on behalf of people in Australia who need it. Every month, we gather these donated products and pass them on to one of the many Australian organisations we have partnered with. To learn more, click here.
