What is period poverty?

Period Poverty is when someone cannot access or afford dignified period products or menstrual health education. It is one of Australia's most ignored public health crisis that is worsening gender equality, and costing our economy billions each year.
  • 1 in 5 people who menstruate in Australia have struggled to afford period products
  • 27% of people who menstruate use products for longer than is safe.
  • Period stigma and shame is preventing people from seeking support
  • Period Poverty costs Australia roughly $60 billion annually - through lost productivity, avoidable health complications and reduced participation
